Advanced Project Type: Key benefits

If you selected the Advanced Project Type, your project includes a Pre-Migration Assessment, Technical Pilot testing, and Premier Support.

Pre-Migration Assessment

Discovery of all objects that exist in the source platform.

  • Inventory report of all source objects
  • Planning Meeting to discuss the following:
    • Object setup best practices
    • Object Provisioning Plan
  • Provision cloud-only objects in target

Note: Object reports and provisioning tools are available for the following platforms.

Technical Pilot

The Technical Pilot provides an opportunity to confirm data fidelity expectations are met in advance of the Production migration. Pilot migration(s) of select source mailboxes into test mailboxes in the target environment will allow pilot users to evaluate migration results and flush out any potential output fidelity issues that are present, eventually leading to the migration configuration that yields expected results.

Technical Pilot Process:

  • Advise Customer about pilot selection criteria:
    • Up to 2 Mailboxes
    • Up to 2 User Drives (if in scope)
    • 1 Team (Shared) Drive (if in scope)
  • Prepare admin authentication; build and validate software configuration
  • Perform Pilot Migration into test accounts in targetConfirm results with Company; remediate up to 4 times if necessary
  • Upon completion of Technical Pilot Migration, obtain Technical Pilot approval

Technical Pilot Guidelines:

  • Source pilot accounts must be limited to 25 GB of data (per Mailbox, User Drive or Team Drive) or less.
  • Customer must provide feedback within 5 business days of Transend’s notice that Pilot data is ready for review, or additional fees may be required.
  • Any delays during the pilot phase may result in the project going into dormant status.
  • If the project goes into dormant status, resumption is subject to Transend’s availability and additional fees may be required.
  • The Technical Pilot includes up to 4 rounds of remediation.
  • Remediation to be limited to software configuration adjustments and bug fixes.
  • Any software enhancement requests will require additional fees.

Note: If your Agreement is dated February 6, 2026 or earlier, your Scope of Work did not include a Technical Pilot by default. The Technical Pilot was added to the Advanced Project Type effective February 7, 2026.

Pilot Data Review:

It is recommended that users who are included in the Technical Pilot testing process reference Transend’s Pilot Review Guidelines when reviewing data. These guidelines identify specific issues and variables to look out for.

Premier Support

Client Configuration

Your project engineer will provide guidance related to the following:

  • Local Outlook client configuration

Validate Results

Completion reports

Mailbox migration report:

  • Completion report (by user) – items migrated, summarized by user

File migration report:

  • Comparison report – Comparison between source and target drives
    • Defines differences between source and target drives after migration (i.e. defines any files that exist in one drive but not the other)
    • Files that exist in the source but not the target post-migration are identified by file name and a + symbol
    • Files that exist in the target but not the source post-migration are identified by file name and a symbol

Note:

Additional reports can potentially be provided or developed upon request. Additional fees will likely be required.
