Strip Oversized Attachments

If oversized attachments in GroupWise messages are causing migration errors (due to GW API limitations, corruption, or otherwise), you may strip attachments during migration so they do not migrate, allowing the message to migrate successfully.

To implement this feature, use the custom option /GWMAXATTACHSIZE (n) where n=file size in KB (1024 bytes). This will result in any attachment in a GroupWise message that is equal to or larger than the defined attachment size value (n) will be stripped during migration. The migrated message in the target platform will display a stub indicating the attachment was stripped during migration.

Notes:

  • This feature only applies to a GroupWise source platform while running Transend Migration Console v3.0 and above
  • Attachments that are stripped with the /GWMAXATTACHSIZE option will not be migrated or detached to a drive
  • If detaching attachments to a drive is important, use the /MAXATTACHSIZE option instead
