EML Considerations
EML files are text files containing one message per file, and message attachments are normally encoded within each text file. The EML file can be viewed in programs such as Outlook Express and Windows mail. These files are based upon the RFC-822 single email standard.
Requirements
- No email client is required for conversion.
- The data file normally has the .EML file extension, but you may also find these same RFC-822 single emails with the .MSG file extension (those MSG files are different than Microsoft Outlook MSG files).
Output file name
By default, the output file name will be the subject of the source email. To alter the default behavior, use the following option on the Advanced Options screen.
Without a defined parameter, the default is: /D75 DNS
Optional parameters are:
- D = Date
- N = Sender name
- T = Time
- S = Subject
To change the output file name to a unique numerical value, use /D86 in the Custom Options field.
