Pilot Testing
It is recommended that you perform a Technical Pilot in advance of a productionmigration. The Technical Pilot serves two primary purposes:
- (a) ensures your Transend Migration Console software configuration yields anoutput that meets data fidelity expectations, and
- (b) allows you to collect performance data to guide production scalingdecisions.
Data Fidelity Validation
Pilot migration(s) of select accounts will allow pilot users to evaluatemigration results and flush out any output fidelity issues, eventually leadingto the migration configuration that yields expected results. When fidelityissues are identified, you have the unique ability to either make softwareconfiguration adjustments or, if necessary, request that Transend’s developmentteam creates a custom patch to resolve the issue.
By performing a thorough review to ensure you’re using an optimized softwareconfiguration, it significantly reduces the likelihood of surprises duringproduction.
Throughput Optimization
The Technical Pilot also provides an opportunity to evaluate throughput resultsthat can be used to appropriately scale the production migration farm. TransendMigration Console canleverage multiple workstations running concurrent threads to work in parallel{target=”_blank”}, yielding significant scalability and faster data processing.However, it is important to appropriately size the migration farm to ensureprocessing efficiency and avoid diminishing returns from overloading computeresources. By reviewing throughput rates achieved during the pilot, you can moveto production with a migration farm that is properly scaled, ensuring cutoverdeadlines are met.
