Migrate to Google Groups (Collaborative Inboxes)

To migrate email data into Google Groups (Collaborative Inboxes), follow these steps to customize your configuration:

  1. Set up a Google Service Account for your organization.
  2. Add this scope to the API Client in Security / API Controls / Domain-wide Delegation: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/apps.groups.migration.
  3. Add this API to the Google Service Account: Groups Migration API.
  4. The target address in the Transend Migration Console User List should be an owner of the Google Group.
  5. Add following custom option to your Transend Migration Console configuration: /D297 MCTADRG.
  6. Define the target Google Group’s e-mail address in the /D256 parameter.
  7. Example: To migrate multiple M365 shared mailboxes into multiple Google Groups:
    • Add a custom column in the users list called GROUP.
    • Define the e-mail address of the Google Group.
    • In /D256 define $GROUP.
  8. If you’re using a Translation Table in Transend Migration Console, you’ll need to customize it to map the source address to the actual target address.

Notes:

  • Google’s Groups Migration API does not support labels, so Transend Migration Console cannot create labels during migration when migrating data into a Google Group.
  • All mail is migrated into the conversations view.
